Dr. Ruth Vander Stelt and her colleagues have committed themselves to providing access to health care services for everyone in the Pontiac region. The Pontiac Family Medicine Group provides necessary care to people that have difficulties finding a family physician. "It’s about steering patients through the right door to access the healthcare system, so they receive the appropriate care without having to show up at the emergency," explains Dr. Vander Stelt. By finding family doctors for over 90% of its patients, this Family Medicine Group is having a significant impact on the people of the region, while also showing doctors across the country new ways of delivering care.

Accreditation

Added on 01/10/2010 - Author : admin

Follow-up on Accreditation

Following the inspection in February 2008, we ensured that all the follow-up measures required by Accreditation Canada were carried out. Indeed, the official results indicated that we had received accreditation with follow-up in the form of reports. This is satisfactory.

The follow-up measures consisted of detailing certain points in our improvement plans, in certain sectors. In addition, we were to update all the indicators required.

We are now at the preparation stage for the next inspection in February 2011. The various teams are continuing their respective tasks. The surveys on personnel motivation and client satisfaction are moving along well. The self-assessments on standards, in each service and sector, will be analyzed and improvement plans will take shape.

The search for excellence and quality improvement is everybody's daily concern. Our organizational culture is already well developed in this respect and the support of our managers and Board of Directors has been  invaluable.
