The committee is composed of the following five members:
- Claudette Rainville-Stanton, President and member of the Board of Directors
- Cheryl Hardwick, Vice-President and member of the Board of Directors
- Richard Grimard, Executive Director, Secretary
- Hélène Boulet, Member of the Board of Director
- Benoit Paré, Local Service Quality and Complaints Commissioner
The Watchdog Committee met 4 times during the year with Mrs. Claudette Rainville-Stanton as chairperson.
At each of these meetings, the Commissioner gave us a complete report on the type of complaints received and the rigorous follow-up he had given in order to always aim for quality. Each report by the Commissioner to the Board of Directors was first of all assessed by the Committee to target, in particular, situations requiring that the institution take an official position.
The committee gave its support for analysis and recommendations regarding the nature of the issues identified, as well as the follow-up on the corrective measures proposed. The committee also supported the Commissioner on the subject of establishing a process for assessing and quantifying reports received (observations, comments, "informal" complaints).
The committee also participated in the assessment of the Commissioner's work and laid out its targets for the future. With regard to the issue of VBACs (vaginal birth after a caesarean) the Board of Directors took the position of supporting the recommendation of the CPDP that a moratorium be placed on this practice until new and conclusive data have proven that the risk for our patients would be very low.
