
The pharmacy answers to the pharmaceutical needs of the patients in the long term care facilities, the acute care patients in the hospital setting as well as the patients receiving ambulatory care services.

The services provided by the Pharmacy include medication preparation and distribution for the patients, consultations services for staff and physicians and also staff, physician, patient and family teaching.
The Pharmacy, in cooperation with the long term care facilities has implemented a 35 day uni-dose card distribution system and in the hospital setting, we have implemented a uni-dose daily system.
Other services :
- Chemotherapy, preparation of medication and teaching to staff, patient and family.
- Preparation of sterile IV medication and antibiotic for home care use.
- Clinical consultations of patient charts, acts as a resource center for physicians and staff on the departments.
- Implementation of admission/discharge prescription format to reduce issues pertaining to multi medication use.

Pharmacist’s role :
- Is responsible for the complete process from the reception of the prescription to the delivery of the medication.
- Is responsible for the communication of clinical information concerning prescriptions to nursing staff and physician.
- Acts are a resource person, as needed, for staff, physicians, patients and families.
- Ensures staff teaching, as needed.
- Is responsible for defining the use of the medication and for te management of medication in the institution.
- Takes part in the patient care plan, as needed.
Pharmacy technical assistant’s role :
- Assists the Pharmacist in all levels of medication preparation to the delivery :
- general preparation
- chemotherapy preparation
- uni-dose preparation for short term care and uni-dose (35 day card system) for long term care.
