The Birthing Centre of the Pontiac Hospital Centre.

PHILOSOPHY

The Birthing Centre philosophy is centered on the early development of the parent-child bond through such activities as rooming-in and breastfeeding. Our main objective of this reorganization is to encourage the family integration in the delivery process. We have tried to create a home-like environment which promotes rooming-in of mother, father and child during their stay at the hospital. If need be, family members or a friend may stay in place of the father.

PERSONNEL

The Birthing Centre staff consists of doctors, nurses and other support personnel, if needed (Physiotherapist, Dietician, Respiratory therapist). Our staff is at the cutting edge of training in their respective fields and they are dedicated towards continuing education.

EQUIPMENT

Each birthing room is equipped with the lastest technology in medical equipment required for a normal labour and delivery. All required equipment in case of an emergency is in close proximity to the birthing rooms.

ROOMS

Our new birthing rooms are spacious, warm and inviting. The rooms are equipped with a sofa-bed that can be used to relax in or as a bed for the father, a family member or a friend. Each room has its own complete private bathroom equipped with a therapeutic bath for natural pain control.
