Palliative Care is the active and compassionate care of the terminally ill when their disease is no longer responsive to measures aimed at a cure or a prolongation of life.
The mandate of the Watchdog Committee is to ensure implementation of the recommendations of the Local Service Quality and Complaints Commissioner to the Board of Directors.
Risk management includes the management of medication errors, management
of patients’ falls, omission of treatment, management of use of restraints
and management of transfusions. Actually, risk management covers any and
all services to the patient.
Last June, a nomination period was held for persons interested in serving on the Users’ Committee for the «CSSS du Pontiac» and also three (3) Residents’ Committees, such as: the «Manoir Sacré-Cœur», the Pontiac Reception Centre and the Hospital Long-Term Care.
The functions of the Quality Assurance Committee concern quality aspects, i.e., to ensure that means to guarantee the quality of the services provided are in place . Its functions also include promotion of a quality assurance approach, development of assessment tools and monitoring of all activities carried out to improve quality. It supports the programs and services in their quality assurance activities by providing methodological assistance and training. It ensures that objectives are established and that activities are carried out in the programs and services by the different teams.
